The Morning After - Walk of Shame Giude

................So it is Saturday morning, I have a mother of a hangover after a cocktail of KEG, Jack Daniels tots, Bluemoon, Kibao and assortments of lethal substances. What a night! Pombe nimewacha I swear. Turning to my side, I see a hump under my small duvet. It is her…I have to deal with the hangover, but she has bigger problems, she has to do the walk of shame across my hostel and endure the condescending stares from all them SDAs, CU and Bible study groups and the “holier than thou” camps.

Problem is, it does not matter if the chick is my girlfriend, or a chipo from some dingy club beyond river road, campuserians judge more than the supreme court bench combined. As always, the morning after the deed inevitably arrives and, as the sun of the new day dawns, the weight of the situation dawns on those who find themselves somewhere other than their own bed. So instead of trying to yell at every stare, “ITS OKAY, IT WAS MY BOYFRIEND” or “WE DID NOT GO PAST FIRST BASE” here are some tips to make walk of shame less shameful, take them with a pinch of salt, if some suggessions sound out of the ordinary, I blame it on the alcohol.

Wear his clothes and shoes: You might as well pretend to be a dude, tuck in your hair in his hooded jacket and walk in his timberlands with swag. Gotea a comrade or two for the plausibility effect.

Confirm your appearance: make sure you look alive like you just came to his hostel in the morning to “borrow some notes” and you are leaving. Problem is, guys’ hostels rarely have mirrors, so you will have to make do with your touch-phone screen.

Get out in the afternoon: this is a good thing as you will get free breakfast and lunch, if the guy has any sense of humanity. Plus, you’ll avoid the walk-of-shame drama in the morning.

Get a trench coat: it will hide the clothes underneath, or lack thereof.

Wear sunglasses: those big round ones, like Lady Gagas are the best – those ones that make you look like a grasshopper. The shame predators will not recognize you and the bulging hangovered eyes.

The mobile phone: this is an amazing device to use for awkward situations. Text, pretend to call as you pass the judging crowd along the hostel. You can coin things like, “yeah…the interview was great, am just from my cousin’s place at Hall 20…..he is okay, will be there in a minute…”

Big bags: I have been a hater for those huge gunias our campo ladies carry but this is the time to put them into use. If you know walk of shame will be inevitable in the morning, carry an extra blouse, scarf, dress…or even your whole wardrobe…because with the outrageous sizes of bags I have seen…am sure they could move in in one night.

Or last bad not least, do it like a boss: Cat walk in your sexy outfit, heads high in a way that ensures the potential judgers have fantasies, and wet dreams about you. Be proud and not a conformer to (double) standards. And if someone stares you too long, nod approvingly, and say…”yeah, I could gerrit.” Make it a walk of pride.

THika Superhighway commisioned

The recently completed Thika-Nairobi superhighway commissioned by President Mwai Kibaki on Friday, November 9, 2012.

Construction work on the highway kicked off in April 2009 and was scheduled for completion in December 2011 – meaning the project is eight months behind schedule.

The project, which is part of an elaborate plan to decongest city traffic, involved changing Thika road from a four-lane carriageway to an eight-lane superhighway, building underpasses, erecting flyovers and providing interchanges at roundabouts.

The highway’s construction budget was initially Sh27 billion but it eventually consumed Sh31 billion, an amount the Kenya National Highways Authority GM Meshack Kidenda attributes to inflation and additional works on the road.

“The 50.4 km project overshot its budget by Sh4 billion due to inflation and additional features that changed design work,” said Mr Kidenda.

Thika road was built in three sections: Uhuru Highway to Muthaiga Roundabout; Muthaiga Roundabout to Kenyatta University; and Kenyatta University to Thika Town. The sections were undertaken by China Wu Yi, Sinohydro and Sheng Li respectively.

The highway has significantly reduced the time taken to travel by road between Nairobi and Thika from about two hours to about 45 minutes.

Unfortunately, Thika road will be commissioned amid rising cases of vandalism of its lighting poles, barriers and road signs aimed to enhance safety of vehicles on the road.

According to Mr Kidenda, vandals are increasingly frustrating efforts to fine tune the highway in line with international standards by vandalising the highway’s fixtures meant to aid the flow and safety of vehicles on the superhighway.

“The crooks are destroying street lights, crash barriers and even destroying timer sensitive control panels which cost about Sh100,000 each,” he said.

Mr Kidenda said that although the authority was considering reinforcing the furniture and putting in place a patrol team, Kenyans should also play the policing role and report any cases of vandalism.

Mare Ignorance:Deaths at a Construction site:Two workers killed and two others injured after a heap of sand they were excavating collapsed at a construction site in Gigiri, Nairobi.

Two casual workers were killed and two others injured on Monday after a heap of sand they were excavating collapsed at a construction site in Gigiri, Nairobi.

The four were were excavating a mountain of sand from a building that has been under construction near the Village Market when the sand collapsed on them, killing two of them on the spot.

“Two of the workers died as a bulldozer tried to remove the sand from where they had been trapped. The others who had multiple injuries were saved and rushed to hospital,” said Nairobi Area deputy police boss Moses Ombati.

Police had to fire in the air to save the construction site manager after angry colleagues of those who had been trapped descended on him blaming him for the deaths.

we can say this was as mare case of ignorance. The workers said they had warned the manager that it was dangerous for them to dig the sand manually while a bulldozer was also digging at a nearby site but he allegedly forced them to continue with the work.

According to Ombati, police are investigating the circumstances under which the 2:30 pm incident happened.

“Action will be taken if there is any form of negligence on the side of management of the site,” he said.

TROUBLED Kenya!

Faced with a combination of body blows ranging from spiking prices for maize, import dependent Kenya’s staple food, IMF mandated food subsidy cuts, a foolhardy USA instigated invasion of Somalia, election triggered ethnic warfare and a simmering independence movement by Muslims in the Mombasa coastal region Kenya is in trouble, serious trouble. Hunger speculators lead by financial terrorists such as Goldman Sachs are using the drought in the USA, the worlds largest producer of maize/corn to drive prices to what are predicted to be record levels, more than doubling by early 2013 forcing Kenya’s imported maize dependent population’s malnutrition rate into meltdown status.
It was record food prices that triggered the so called “Arab Spring” in Tunisia and Egypt and Kenya stands on the brink of a similar explosion.
Compounding the hunger factor in Kenya is “Queen Christine” (no maize? let them eat cake) Legarde of the IMF applying a hammer lock to Kenya’s chronically cash strapped governments budget with food subsidies for the poorest scheduled to be slashed.
The USA instigated Kenya’s criminally fool hardy invasion of Somalia and has landed the Kenyan military, an ill-disciplined, brutal and corrupt band of uniformed hoodlums, in a quagmire that is spreading the flames of rebellion through out Kenya’s north eastern Somali population...
Today the mainly muslim population of the coastal region is almost unanimous in its desire for independence with opinion polls reporting up to 95% of the people supporting such. While so far the situation around the “Africa’s Great Lakes” regions main port of Mombasa has yet to see any major outbreaks of armed violence reports from the Somalia arms markets (supplied by the African Union “peacekeepers” and the Ethiopian military) indicate that weapons are being purchased in increasing numbers by coastal Muslim organizations. Even a former Kenyan cabinet member from Mombasa has warned of an almost inevitable uprising in the region.
Historically the muslims along Kenya’s coast, with its port of Mombasa being vital to the economies of not only Kenya but Uganda, Rwanda, Burundi and South Sudan, were a semi autonomous state with allegiance to the Sultan of Zanzibar.They claim that after Kenyan independence the Kikuyu regime made a secret deal with Zanzibar allowing Kenya to “lease” the region for several decades. The independence leadership on the coast claims this “lease” has long since expired and they want to exercise their right to self determination.
With the coastal region long suffering from rampant corruption, nepotism, economic neglect and marginalization along with the outright theft of lucrative beach front lands by the top leadership in the Nairobi government one might wonder why it has taken this long for an uprising to be born. A future independent state in Mombasa has East Africa’s busiest port, a 60,000 bpd oil refinery and the world famous hotels, why do they need Nairobi?
Since independence Kenya has been ruled by an ethnic minority Kikuyu regime installed by the departing British colonialists. The spoils of power were hoarded by an elite amongst the new Kikuyu rulers and the much larger Luo tribe in the highlands has been left to scrape by on a few dollars a day per capita. If the now twice postponed elections were to be really free and fair few doubt the Luo will win and the Kikuyu will lose. Once in power the Luo will waste little time seizing what they have only dreamed of having for more that 50 years since independence.
In other words, if the Kikuyu elite lose the election they will lose everything they have stolen fair and square from the trough of government largess, down to the land sitting under some of the largest hotels in Africa along Kenya’s world famous beaches. The last election in Kenya in 2007 saw another 'typical Kenya election theft', but this time the Luo exploded. After a month or more of fire and the sword, a couple thousand dead and hundreds of thousands ethnically cleansed in the Rift Valley some sort of peace was finally restored with a “power sharing deal”. Power sharing as in doubling the number of government Ministers so both national crime syndicates posing as political parties could share in the spoils and in the process bleed the national treasury dry.
While Kenya maybe able to postpone an outbreak of violence that is all that will happen, it will just be a matter of buying time. The underlying tensions in the region, fed by record high food prices and IMF enforced food subsidy cuts, will need more than “power sharing” or the inevitable crackdown on the budding independence movement on the coast to prevent civil war breaking out in Kenya someday. Kenya is in trouble, serious trouble, and 2013 may well see western hunger speculators cause an explosion that will see a civil war splinter the country.

There lives a young boy who fear god, doing his ministry and adventures to known about earthly life, He was so happy when he feels that he is going to venture and visiting many people after he finish is high school, everyone in the family likes him so much, he can cheer up every one those around him to make them happy as well.

And the day had come for him to leave the family and go far away to find his own living. He started to be independent, he founded work, he find foods and the life was totally different from where he was before always be a rounded with parents and relatives, the loneliness strikes him to find a friend to cheering up the days as he was before.

As the days goes by he meet a girl, she is a quite type of person, always like to be lonely but ambitious they started to get to know each other and the boy always make her smile and laugh, the boy love to help her in her needs, sending and picking up from her collage spending time together day and night chatting, and the times come where both of them fall in Love, this boy is so honest to his feeling and his love, but this girls so quite and secretive as who as she is but she is honest with her love, then both of them decided to inform their relationship to their parents, so they can build their love much steady and stronger, but everything not working as what as they planned, the girls mother didn’t like the boy to be in her family because he is Christian, the boy had broken heart and so sad of his First Love, he prayed so hard to God to makes this situation changed to be back as normal but nothing change, and the girl started to avoid and ignoring him from that day on, his promises and memories ruin his mind to force him to forget her by change his life mixing with unbelievers, he start smoking, he start drinking, he started to do all kind of evil thing that is not good in the eyes of God. He doesn’t feel the fear at all.

12years later…

After many people had passed thru in the boy’s life, all the relationship and Love he shown honestly is not blessed and fulfill, till one day after the last broke off the boy sit and thinking back where is the mistake that took place to this situation, he started to realize the relationship that he build around, the blessing that he had lost from the relationships he builds, tears start felling down from his eyes his heart feel crush of all the bad memories he passed thru, he cry and he cry and he cry but no one listen to him…

The boy started to pray to “Father, Please forgive me for keeping you wait for so long and didn’t realize the pure love that you shown on the cross…please forgive me lord, forgive me ”

He quit smoking, drinking and keeping away from all the evil and sin that he had did before from that day on.

One fine evening he back to his family and the family is so happy he’s back but in his heart he felt so bad because he doesn’t bring anything to bless his family. All the family members don’t expect anything from him instead helping and blessed him to be back as who he is before. Most of all his father bless him so much in his need and also his mother and brother and sisters.

He start to attend the church again, start to pray for all his sins to be forgiven, listen to the word of God and doing his ministry given. God is so good in this boy’s life, he touch him and blessed him again after the boy realize the real true LOVE of father in heaven.

Everything had change his life little by little, he is happy as before, he had found back the Joy and Peace in God that he had lost many years ago….
